There’s so much talk about being “real” or “authentic” online these days. There’s a good reason.
When people buy from you, especially when it comes to services, they are in effect, buying YOU.
So when they see you show up online, they want to see the real you. Not a duck face selfie (unless that’s actually how you roll) or someone dressed in a suit and tie, when in reality, you’re more a smart casual (let’s be honest here – trackies in 2021, right?) kinda person.
Be real. Be you.
1st of January this year, I decided my mantra for my own well being would be “progress, not perfection”. And that is true too, for my business. The bracelet you see above was ordered on New Years day and made by my friend Suz at KJ designs, if you want your own one, click the image and order one. I love mine and wear it all the time.
I’m the first to admit I’ve stuffed up along the way. Plenty, actually. But I learn from my mistakes and I grow. And that’s ok. I’m not perfect. No one is. But what you see is what you get, across all of my social media accounts, and there are a few. I might rein in my occasional potty mouth and sarcasm on here, but I am who I am, and you should be too.
I guess my point is this – people don’t want to see a non stop stream of stock photos and perfectly polished videos. They want real. Relatable. Because if they can’t relate to you and your point of view, or everything seems too perfect to be real, why should they use you and your business?
Show your face. Don’t be perfect. Be real.
I love to tell a story, can you tell?
