10 Reasons To Outsource To A Virtual Assistant

I could make a list far longer than this as to why you should hire a Virtual Assistant, but this list of 10 are what I believe are the top reasons.

More Time, Less Stress

This is a huge one. Are you feeling constantly overwhelmed about what needs to be done next, what you should be doing and then trying to do a bajillion things at once?

Delegating some of the tasks to a Virtual Assistant frees you up to spend time on the tasks that really move the needle. There might be things that need doing that only YOU can perform, and that's fine, but what else can you outsource so that you can focus on that particular thing? There's nothing worse than starting your working day in a tailspin, and finishing feeling just the same.

By outsourcing tasks that don't HAVE to be done by you, you remove a whole heap of stress, and everything gets completed, without the tailspins and stress.

Only Do The Tasks You Want To Do

No one loves doing EVERY task in their business, right? Why not hand over the things you really don't love doing?

Are there things you don't know how to do, and can't take the time to learn? And then there's the tasks you know how to do, you don't even hate them, but you just DON'T WANT TO DO THEM.

And that's totally fine. Outsource them and take it off your plate once and for all.

Save Money

Before they understand how it all works, people often look at what a Virtual Assistant charges and think "pfffft, no thanks, too expensive". They don't see how it can save them money. I understand. I always thought that too. Why would anyone want to pay ME that much to do this stuff?

But, when you factor in the following, it makes more sense:

- You're saving yourself all that time. Time that you or your staff could be doing other things.
- You don't pay them sick leave/holidays/public holidays.
- They work remotely, so there is no need to pay for a workspace for them.
- You're only paying for the hours they work, or the agreed package. A regular employee, you have to pay them the agreed hours and find work to fill in those hours, right?
A VA is only paid for the work they do, or the package agreed on. You aren't necessarily paying a 40 hour week when they didn't do that amount of work.

- You're paying for a specialist to do the job. This means they are more efficient as well as more effective at doing the job you hired them to do - the job gets done faster and better because of it.

Leave It To The Experts/Specialists

Most Virtual Assistants have an area they are particularly good at. As mentioned above, when you hire a VA you are paying for their expertise in that area. Some skills take years to learn, so why should you spend all that time and money to learn it? Your time is more valuable than that!

Handing the task over to a VA means it is done properly, and in line with what your business needs, without you needing to worry about it.

Free Up Your Staff To Do Other Work

Hiring a Virtual Assistant to take on certain tasks means that not only you have more time, but your staff will as well. Maybe you need someone to just answer the phones and respond to emails (There are VAs out there who do exactly that!), so your staff can focus on front of house tasks, or on getting orders out the door. Removing that pressure means that everyone is more productive.

Scale Your Business

Never underestimate the power outsourcing will have on your business. By delegating specific tasks to a Virtual Assistant, you give your business a huge chance to grow.

Maybe that means by outsourcing you can focus on the big, chunky work that is going to make the biggest difference. Or that hiring a VA with a specialised area to do the jobs will facilitate that growth, either way, you're giving your business scalability.

That's pretty massive!

It doesn't have to be only 1 Virtual Assistant!

Sounds a bit weird, huh? Hear me out.

Not all VAs are created equal. Some do bookkeeping, some answer phones and respond to emails, some are designers, some, like me, like writing and social media. Not all VAs do EVERYTHING.

There are some out there who are good at multiple areas, but most prefer to specialise.

What this means for you as a business owner is that you could hire me to do your social media and communications, but you could hire another VA to do your Bookkeeping, and someone else to do cold calls to your leads. You're getting the best of each VA and again, only paying them for the specific tasks they do.

Enhance Your Customers Experience

When everything is running more smoothly behind the scenes, your customers and potential customers can see this - building trust in your business, and making their experience much more pleasant. It might mean they better understand what you do, it might mean you can provide a better service because you aren't tied up doing those fiddly tasks you don't even want to do. Whatever the reason, happier customers will often lead to more customers. Who doesn't love that?

Improve The Weak Areas In Your Business

I already mentioned above, but by delegating the tasks you aren't necessarily great at, to someone who IS great at it, means you are taking out that area and handing it to someone who can improve it for you. Maybe it's your behind the scenes systems, your marketing or the financials.
Financials are NOT my area. So I outsourced it. I can do basic design work, and I'm getting better at it, but for the big stuff - my logo, brochures, business cards etc -I outsource. This means I can do the jobs I'm good at, and someone else does those tasks, better than I can.

And so my business is stronger for it.

 Give Yourself More Personal Time

This might be my favourite. Maybe it's not about what you don't know how to do, or what your strengths are.

Sometimes, we're just too blimmin busy.

And that's not ok.

But it IS ok to outsource to give yourself more time and less stress. It doesn't even have to mean more time in your business.

Maybe it's just more time to have a life outside of business. And that is 100% ok. And you should.

When making big decisions, I often ask myself, how will I feel about this when I get to my death bed.

If I died tomorrow, will I think "damn, I wish I spent less time with my family and more time working on my business" or "I wish I never took that holiday, I should have stayed working and stressed out instead."

It's pretty unlikely. I love my family and my friends, and I want to spend MORE time with them, not more time in front of a screen at all hours of the day.
